Featuring members of fellow Calgary acts Belvedere, The Evidence, and Lions, Tigers and Bears, the band has been sharing the stage with the likes of 88 Fingers Louie, Red City Radio, Mad Caddies, A Wilhelm Scream, and Teenage Bottlerocket while chipping away at the writing and recording of a debut album while recording a debut album. You’ll find the culmination of all this fizzing and gigging, on a debut album called "Weeeeeeeeeeeee are the Fizzgigs" out on March 20, 2020.

When the melodrama of the daily grind is getting you down, dear reader, reach for The Fizzgigs brand pop-punk and apply vigorously to the ears.

Like that first sip of lemon soda on a hot summer day at the beach, Fizzgigs songs are a tonic to cleanse the ear-holes and invigorate the mind.

The Fizzgigs are a pop-punk band from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The foursome was drawn together in the summer of 2017 by a mutual love of late ‘80s/early ‘90s power pop and the punk revival of the same era. Comparing record collections between Fizzgigs members, you’ll find overlap from the Lookout and Asian Man imprints, and albums from the Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Samiam, Bad Religion and a number of their contemporaries.

Featuring members of fellow Calgary acts Belvedere, The Evidence, and Lions, Tigers and Bears, the band has spent their first year sharing the stage with the likes of 88 Fingers Louie, Red City Radio, Mad Caddies, and A Wilhelm Scream while chipping away at the writing and recording of a debut album.

Rewinding to the beginning, the inception of The Fizzgigs is a story of friendship and shared admiration. Rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist, Jason Sinclair, while doing sound at bass guitarist Dean Rud’s last show with the Evidence, pitched the idea of re-establishing their highschool musical collaboration on a new project. With a handful of songs already written, Jason had established a musical vision for the new band. Bonding that night over a longstanding love of bands like Lagwagon, Alkaline Trio, Undeclinable Ambuscade, and Bodyjar, destiny had it’s say in the matter when Bodyjar’s “Not the Same” began playing in the bar.

In the coming months, Jason used his local music store network to find drummer Cody Coates. Aside from being a locally revered multi-instrumentalist and singer, Cody’s tenure included local indie sensations Lions, Tigers & Bears and recent exploits included a tribute act called Blink-183… just in case the affinity for 90’s pop-punk needed any more bolstering.

Last to officially join the fold was lead guitarist Mr. Scott Marshall, Jason’s jazz-trained and punk-rock-hardened compatriot from the internationally-known thrash-punk act, Belvedere. With a musical bond that goes back to 1998, the comradery between Jason and Scott lends itself to a musical shorthand and decisive songwriting in the Fizzgigs camp.

Drawing on their collective experience and resources, the recording of the debut album has been a both a demonstration of persistence and a joy. Sinclair notes the volume of laughter and humility in the recording sessions as a hallmark of the experience. With the reputable Scott Giffin lending an ear to production and applying his craft to the mix, the result is an album that the members are proud to call the best record they’ve been a part of to date.

You’ll find the culmination of all this fizzing and gigging, as a debut album called "Weeeeeeeeeeeee are the Fizzgigs", on March 20, 2020.
